Follow the conference on the Knowledge Web

The AFAC & Bushfire CRC Conference in Sydney starts on Monday at  Darling Harbour.

The conference theme this year is New World, New Thinking and the conference will focus on future challenges, technologies and innovation that will impact on emergency management into the future.

This is the premier conference for the emergency management sector in Australasia and international and nationally recognised speakers – all leaders in their field - will be presenting on a wide array of topics covering social media, leadership, communities, land management, applied research, forecasts, interoperability, building design and the psychology of survival and resilience to name but a few.

The event starts with eight Personal Development Program sessions on Monday 29 August and flows through to the conference on Tuesday and Wednesday. Day four, Thursday, features the Bushfire CRC's Science Day.

We appreciate not all Bushfire CRC supporters and partners are able to attend, so this year we will be again using the AFAC Knowledge Web to provide you with a way to follow all conference proceedings. Click here

Presentations, papers, keynote speeches and slideshows will be published immediately after presenters finish their sessions.

Now in its second year, the Meet the Speakers program will allow delegates to meet some of the key note and leading speakers in the Dräger Knowledge Lounge following their presentations.  This is a more informal and intimate setting  and we will also publish details of this program on the site so that you can also "meet the speakers” from your desktop.

Feel free to provide us with your feedback to help us to make this site more valuable for our members.  You can view the full conference program from the official conference website here or download the conference app – AFAC2011 or twitter #afac2011.
