About

Nur Fajar Trihantoro is a PhD candidate in Geospatial Science at RMIT University, working under the supervision of Associate Professor Karin Reinke and Professor Simon Jones. His research focuses on developing satellite-based methods to improve near real-time fire detection across Australia. By integrating multi-sensor data and advanced data assimilation techniques, his work aims to address challenges posed by cloud cover and sensor limitations, ultimately providing more reliable information to support fire management and emergency response.

Nur has a strong background in remote sensing, geodesy, and geospatial modelling, with professional experience in environmental monitoring and risk assessment. His current project forms part of the Real Time Fire Analytics initiative, supported by Natural Hazards Research Australia and SmartSat CRC. The project seeks to advance the accuracy and timeliness of fire detection systems, contributing to improved situational awareness for decision-makers and first responders.

Passionate about translating research into practice, Nur collaborates with both academic and industry partners to ensure his methods are operationally relevant. His long-term goal is to contribute to developing robust geospatial solutions for disaster.
