About
William Prentice is a trusted professional in the prevention, preparedness, response and recovery of flooding events, management of flood risk, enhancing resilience and disaster risk reduction.
He has a demonstrated track record of implementing high-benefit, sustainable flood risk management outcomes. With over 16 years’ experience in the private and public sectors, Mr Prentice has extensive government experience and a passion for improving flood resilience and has successfully led the delivery of strategic policy, flood risk management, infrastructure planning, disaster management and community resilience programs, including $400m of capital infrastructure planning, $540m strategic planning projects and $25m of disaster resilience and recovery works.
He is known as a specialist in translating engineering and scientific data into simple information for technical and non-technical audiences – from the general public to technical experts, executive management and elected officials.
In addition, Mr Prentice has been twice awarded the National Emergency Medal and is an Executive Committee member (Technical Director) of Floodplain Management Australia (FMA). He is a committee member of Engineers Australia’s Queensland Water Panel and was appointed to the AIDR Steering Group for the Flood Emergency Planning.
