Thursday, September 27, 2007 - 9:00pmTASSIE CONFERENCE
I would like to acknowledge the tremendous success of the recent AFAC / Bushfire CRC Tassie Conference. It was pleasing to note 31 presentations were given as a direct result of Bushfire CRC research. This clearly demonstrates how the Bushfire CRC is in terms of many of the questions being raised across Industry. The opportunity to provide knowledge through conference presentations and the subsequent dialogue and interest created by the presentations is clearly only the beginning of a process in getting the knowledge moved into agency policy and practice.
To further assist with this knowledge transfer, all previous ‘Fire Notes’ and the ‘Fire Updates’, together with research posters were provided to all Conference attendees in their registration satchel on a CD. I am keen to see the CD’s contents freely for used by agencies as part of our on-going ‘knowledge transfer’ process.
Tassie Workshops
Prior to the Conference there were 4 Bushfire CRC workshops held in Hobart. These were well attended with more than 150 people taking the opportunity to hear the latest on:
• Fire Behaviour
• Living in the Interface
• Community Safety: Analysis, Communication and Evaluation
• Safety and Effectiveness of Fire-Fighters
Course notes for the workshop on Fire Behaviour are now available on the Bushfire CRC website at: www.bushfirecrc.com.
Kind regards
