A week of Research delivery

I had an interesting week last week. It was one of those weeks when you can get back to the real purpose of the Bushfire CRC: research. A number of researchers and end users have been exposed to various parts of the research during the past week.

It started in the north east of Victoria amongst the burnt areas from Black Saturday where the University of Melbourne and University of Sydney teams showed us round their sites, examining the implication of wildfires on water quality and quantity - nice to be out of the office for a while. Wednesday then saw two presentations, one from Damien Killalea and one from Dr Susan Chaplin, both related to community engagement in Tasmania. Then Thursday saw a major workshop organised and hosted by RMIT and the Bushfire CRC on the broad topic of sharing responsibility. Key presentations from the various Bushfire CRC researchers set the scene, including from Dr Blythe McLennan, Dr Michael Eburn and Professor Barbara Norman, as well as many other presenters from all levels of government, agencies and the community.

It was indeed great to see the work of the new extension of the Bushfire CRC starting to deliver real outcomes for its partners and communities.
