A/Prof Muir is Associate Professor (Research) and Associate Director of the Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC). She has led a number of large-scale research programs investigating system-level interactions that shape outcomes in safety-critical environments. Collaborating extensively with emergency service organisations, A/Prof Muir's projects have covered a broad range of topics focused on the intersection between safety, emergency service operations, and public health. Specific research areas include the role of emergency services in improving public health outcomes, community safety as a result of emergencies, and occupational safety and wellbeing of emergency service workers. As an applied researcher, her overall focus is informing evidence-based practice and influencing change in complex systems.
