A/Prof Abrahams is Adjunct Associate Professor in the Monash University School of Public Health and Preventative Medicine and was Director, Monash University Disaster Resilience Initiative (2022-2025). He collaborates on systems-based, risk-informed policy, capacity development, education, research and projects with local, national and international partners that promote inclusion and integration of community resilience, health, emergency and disaster risk management (EDRM), and climate change adaptation. A/Prof Abrahams has played leading roles in global EDRM policy, guidance and capacity development in the WHO Health Emergencies Program, and advising the Sendai Framework negotiations, UNDRR and WMO. His 40 years’ professional experience includes ADPC (Bangkok, Thailand), AusAID and EMA.
