A significant student contribution

It was great to finally have all of the new Bushfire CRC scholarship recipients together at the conference in Sydney.  It was also great to see a number of recently completed or soon to be completed students.  Thank you to each of you for the contribution that you made to the success of the conference and a particular thanks to those of you who presented.  

Although you all come from different universities, disciplines and backgrounds (indeed many from different countries) the one thing you all have in common is your enthusiasm and desire to be part of the industry through your research.  The camaraderie and support for each other was exceptional and I hope that you will continue to keep in touch between the conferences.  Also make a point of following up with any of the industry contacts that you made – the industry is supportive of your research and keen to see you succeed. If you need help following up with someone feel free to contact me.

As many of you will be aware we recently advertised the CRC scholarships again and anticipate a number of new students coming on board in the next few months.  Please make these new students welcome and include them in any local gatherings that you may have. 

Once again thank you for the contribution to the conference – you made us all very proud.
